Teachers and Students Attend to the Making of Documentary Cheng-Yu Railway

Cheng-Yu railway is a 505km railway which stretches eastward from Sichuan to Chongqing. It is the first railway that was built after the founding of new China. A large amount of passengers have been traveling back and forth over the past decades. This railway is the first one built in southwest China as well, so it is significant in the history of railway development in China.

On April 14, it was reported from West China Metropolis Daily that SWJTU will make a documentary named Cheng-Yu Railway with Sichuan TV station for celebrating the 70 anniversary of the founding of new China. This documentary will reflect the situations and history of society and culture in the area along the railway by narrating the story of Cheng-Yu railway.

In the afternoon of April 14, some scholars and experts from SWJTU, Sichuan University and Sichuan TV station came together to discuss for making the documentary.

Mr. Liu Guangyu, the head of Humanity Documentary and Video research center in SWJTU, told to the reporter that this documentary is for the forthcoming 70 anniversary of the founding of new China. It will be planned for 5 episodes. And it will focus on the difficulties from 1950 to 1952, the changes for society and life after the open of this railway, and the building of economy circles.

He also said thatCheng-Yu Railwaywill be different from traditional documentary film or feature film. It will report the transitions and humanities in Chengdu and Chongqing over the last half century through the video of local records.
