工业设计系：

    工业设计系创办于1998年，现有教师14人，教授2人，副教授4人及多名毕业于国内外著名院校的青年教师。其中欧洲留学归国的教师3名。本学科依托西南交大的理工科背景，利用学校丰富的人才优势与先进的教学科研设备，走理论与设计实践相结合、艺术与技术并重的办学道路。主要有交通工具设计、轻工业产品设计和公共设施设计的研究方向。具有工业设计博士、硕士、艺术硕士及工业设计工程硕士授予权。2009年被评为四川省的特色专业。工业设计系还聘有多名海内外著名设计师和教授担任客座教授，与国内的许多著名企业建立合作研发平台。学生在国内国际设计大赛中多次获得好成绩，就业率保持较高水平。

The Department of Industrial Design：

      Founded in 1998, the Department of Industrial Design has 14 faculty members, 2 of them are professors, 4 associate professors, several young talented teachers graduated from famous universities and colleges both at home and abroad, and 3 returnees from Europe upon their completion of studies there. Dependent on the strength and backgrounds of the University in scientific and engineering education, the Department focuses on the interdisciplinary interaction and correlation between arts and technologies and pursues the integration of both the theories and design practices in the organization of programs and studies. The Department offers Ph. D. and M. A. programs in Industrial Design, and M. Sc. in Industrial Design as well. In 2009, the program for the Discipline of Industrial Design was named as the Specialty Program of Sichuan Province. In addition, many prestigious designers and professors, both domestic and overseas ones, are the adjunct professors of the Department and many famous enterprises and firms established research and development platforms with the Department. The Department also takes great pride in the achievements attained by its students in international and domestic design competitions, and its graduates are eagerly sough after.
