CALL FOR PAPER:
“Beyond the Media Landscape: Culture, Society and the Internet”
International Conference
Chengdu, China, June7-8, 2014
School of Art and Communication of Southwest Jiaotong University, China New Media Communication Association(CNMCA) and Video Culture Society of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, will host an international conference, themed as “Beyond the Media Landscape: Culture, Society and the Internet”, in Chengdu, Sichuan ,June 7-8,2014.
The Conference’s goals are the following:
• To provide communication researchers an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between culture, society and the internet.
• To create a space for dialogue between communication researchers from around the world and promote regional and international research partnerships.
• To bridge communication scholarship in China with that in the rest of the world.
Subject areas and sub-topics
We welcome paper submissions on a broad range of topics that exemplify the societal transformation and impact of new media. Topics could concern issues of new media communication in cultural and social contexts. In other words, papers could discuss how our society is transforming in the new media environment. We are expecting that scholars will present their research related to these topics (but not limited to):
New Media & Cross-cultural Communications:
Cross-cultural communications in the context of the Internet
Cultural integration & conflict in the age of new media,
Cross-cultural communication education in the context of new media.
New Media & Social Development:
New media & social mobilization
Public relations in the age of new media

Media Changes in the Age of Social Media:

Procedures
The conference will include keynote speeches, group presentations, and exhibition of media education. Detailed procedures will release before conference.
Paper Submission
Language & Format: Papers may be submitted in either English or Chinese. If submitted in English, papers must use the APA style (6th edition); if submitted in Chinese, papers should follow the standard of Chinese academic publishing. All submissions must be in MS Word or PDF.
Length: The full paper should not exceed 8000 words, including abstract, tables/images, and references. All tables, graphs, figures, pictures, and/or Appendices associated with your submission must be included with the main text in a single electronically submitted document.

Registration and Accommodation:
1、Registration fee: 600 RMB or 100 USD(including cultural visit),reduced by half for students.
2、Transportation and accommodation fees are covered by the participants.
