On March 24, “the Master’s Piano Class” was held by School of Humanities at music studio in Xi Pu campus. Professor Havilland, the deputy dean of Trinitiy Laban Conservatoire Music & Dance in London, gave a lecture to students from Department of Music. Besides teaching staff and students, deputy secretary Min Guanghui and department dean Liu Feiyun had also attended the lecture.
Before the beginning of the lecture, department dean Liu expressed the warm welcome to Professor Havilland. He introduced to teachers and students the early experience and achievements Professor Havilland had received in music.
Next, three students from Music Department, Zeng Xinlin, Ke Luojunlan, and Tian Shuo, had performed on the stage in turn. Professor Havilland offered professional conduct to their problems and difficulties after the performance.
Apart from professional help and advice, Professor Havilland also patiently answered questions from audience. He suggusted that students should get down to their own play and follow the teacher’s instructions.
In the interview after the lecture, Zeng said that Professor Havilland’s teaching and explanations differ from her teacher’s. “I think Professor Havilland paid more attention to the feelings music bring to us, and skills about how to handle details. I learned a lot from his instructions.”
