The Peak Forum on Media and Arts in 2016 and the 19thAnnual Meeting of Professional Committees of Video Education from China Association of Higher Education was Held in Xipu Campus of SWJTU on the morning of October 15. The two-day meeting was closed in October 16. This meeting was hosted by Professional Committees of Video Education from China Association of Higher Education and Southwest Jiaotong university, while was undertaken by School of Humanities of SWJTU. The journals of Film Arts, Hundred Schools In Art and Art Criticism was the co-organizers as well. More than 100 scholars from universities andresearch institutions in China attended the meeting.
Theopening ceremony was hosted by professor Liu Guangyu, from School of Humanities. On behalf of SWJTU, professor Zhang Bin expressed the warm welcome toparticipants, and thanked all experts who had supportedand helped theliberal arts construction of SWJTU. He noted that we will not only build SWUTJdistinctive in traffic, but also a well-respected university with soul. The Party committee secretary Xiang Zhongmin introduced major settings and development of School of Humanities. He said:“In recent years, we have already achieved remarkable results based on building academic teams and subjects. It shows that the policy of developing liberal arts from our university have got a full implementation.” Secretary Xiang hoped that the development of Film and Media disciplines can get guidance by all present here as always.
Professor Zhang Tongdao, the director of Professional Committees of Video Education from China Association of Higher Education, also showed welcome to the guests. He mentioned that, under the new situation of social media,Communication Studies should be reconstructed by international, professional and young mode. We need ideas, not just knowledge. So we have to go global to break established modes and get new ideas. Thus the reconstruction can be realized.
After theopening ceremony, the experts and scholars made a detailed discussion around topics like“Film: History, criticism and creation”、“New media and audiovisual education”、“TV anddocumentary” on the afternoon of October 15. Professor Rao Shuguang and professor Zhang Tongdao made special reports that night.
On the morning of 16, as aspecial Guest, Mr. Liang Bibo, a famous director fromBeijing Film Academy, opened a conversation between industry and academia with professor Zhang Tongdao. Mr. Liang said that students from professional colleges and universities have various talents so they need to learn from each other. Professor Zhang said using camera to practice is important, whether you are teacher and student.
Inclosing ceremony, director of council Zhang Tongdao looked forward the development prospects of Professional Committees of Video Education, and awarded letters of appointment to new council members. Professor Liu Guangyu of SWJTU was elected asexecutive director of Professional Committees of Video Education of China Association of Higher Education.
